Texada Log Resort at Tigh-Na-Mara - British Columbia
This is the Texada Log Building at the world famous Tigh-Na-Mara Resort located in Parksville BC.
TS Williams was the General Contractor and had asked my crew and I to refinish the logs. Prior to refinishing the Texada, we had refinished the other two resorts in previous projects back in 2014, the Belenas and the Gabriola. In order to maintain the finish, we’ve got their crew on a maintenance program that will allow the finish to last and protect the wood.
Being alongside the Ocean, the logs on the buildings had suffered severe weathering from the elements. We started off removing all the existing coatings by blasting the Fir logs down to bare wood. Once we had the complete structure stripped down to its natural state, we Osborne brushed right after, then sprayed a coat of Penetreat (Timbor) professional grade insecticide/Fungicide Treatment to deter any wood boring bugs from causing further damage.
We had a cleanup crew sweeping and bagging all used media on a daily basis to keep a safe work environment and a clean site. The logs were refinished with two coats of Sansin in an Espresso colour and one coat of clear to reflect harmful UV Rays.
